The Tyneside Amateur League is 60 years old in 2009. To celebrate this the League is holding a Dinner with John Beresford as the guest speaker on Friday 12th June at The Lancastrian Suite. Red Star Benwell went into their League Cup quarter final against holders Winlaton Vulcan Inn as underdogs but Will Nutman had ideas of his own. Will robbed Vulcan centre half Sean Wood and slotted home the only goal of the game after 30 seconds of the tie. Killingworth YPC Town are the only Division One club left in the competition after they beat Newcastle Diggers United 4-2 with strikes from Dave Low, Graham Carter, Karl Snowdon and Lee Donnelly. Newcastle City's poor run of form continued when they lost 3-2 at Division Two Blakelaw Crofters Lodge. The Crofters had Peter Jackson, Ray Chalmers and Chris Willis. Jordan Nellis and Gary Taylor scored for City. In the other quarter final New York won through to the semi finals thanks to a 4-1 win over Wallsend Town Reserves. Anth Lillford, Graham Tate, John Whitfield and Billy Simmons secured New York's place in the draw with the Wallsend goal coming from Stu Carrick. In Division One Blyth Town Reserves gained revenge for last weeks cup defeat when they beat hosts Cullercoats Custom Planet 4-3. Andrew Stephenson, Josh Miller, Matthew Lavender and Craig Hopwood were all on target for Howard Lavender's charges. Craig Hodgson bagged a brace for Cullercoats to go with Martin Wardale's strike.Blyth Spartans A made the long trip home from Bellingham with three points thanks Martin Robinson. Martin scored the only goal of the game in a very tight contest. Kicks won the Wallsend derby against Lindisfarne Athletic 4-0 thanks to a Liam Mulligan hat trick and a goal from Wilf Kietly. Blyth Thoroton and Garnett Bohemian Reserves shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw. Thoroton had Mark Rylatt and Paul Huck scoring. The garnett goals came from Adam Bell and Peter Jackson. With the top four in Division Two all on cup duty it was down to the chasing pack to close the gap. Rutherford Reserves missed the chance to do just that when they went down 3-1 to Killingworth Station who had Dan Brown, Damien McKenzie and Phil Aitchison all scoring. Ryan Wilson got the Rutherford goal. Newcastle JCB Eindhoven put last weeks blip behind them with a 1-0 win over Garnett Bohemian A. Ken ross got the vital goal. Imran Collins, Adam Hall, Danny Newton and Frankie Armstrong were all on target for Grainger Park in their 4-2 win over Forest Hall. Daniel Morrell got both Forest Hall goals. Newcastle RVI Lochside are starting to creep up the table and they jumped above hosts Blaydon House with a 3-0 win. Chris Hamilton scored twice for RVI Lochside to go with Andrew Hardy's goal.

The Tyneside Amateur League continues to go from strength to strength. For the coming season The League will operate two Divisions of 15. At the recent AGM five new clubs were welcomed into membership of the League, Blakelaw Crofters Lodge,Cullercoats A Forest Hall Town and Newcastle Diggers United and Newcastle JCB Eindhoven.
